Grassroots Organizing, Non-Profit Outreach, Union Education
Erin’s background in non-profit outreach, grassroots organizing, and union education underpins all of her other work. She focuses on answering questions that are important to activists. For instance, in what ways do democratic structures provide tools for activists? And what are the long term effects of using those tools?
Policy Implementation
She uses her expertise in policy implementation to write opinion pieces for major news outlets in San Diego. She wrote on Black Lives Matter and the Commission on Police Practices, and on the proposed closing of San Pasqual Academy in 2021 where she focused on the context of economic inequality and how it affects foster care policies. Most recently, the San Diego Union Tribune published her essay on the dangers of online education to student equity, and Words and Deeds included her essay warning of the threat to public safety posed by inviting the inviting the rodeo to PetCo Park.
Willing to Engage With Pressing Social Movement Issues
She does invited talks on a variety of social movement related issues, addressing sexual violence and internal conflict in activist groups, food and public policy, environmental degradation and healthcare inequities, and movement building in the current political climate.
